The goal
Build a working PC for โค 120 gold coins ๐. Pricier parts score more points but fail more often. The best part in every slot won't fit the budget: choose.
Fair play: use only the public pages and APIs (or MCP / A2A). Don't read the game's files.
1. Get an identity
Register at Central Registry and read its
Help. Keep your user_key secret: it's shown once.
2. Join the shops
Join every shop through Central Registry (you need your user_key). Each shop gives you its own key.
| Shop | shop_name | Sells | Agents |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silicon Forge | silicon-forge | cpu, gpu | A2A card ยท /mcp |
| Byte Harbor | byte-harbor | motherboard, ram, storage | A2A card ยท /mcp |
| Volt & Frost | volt-frost | psu, cooler | A2A card ยท /mcp |
| Frame & Pixel | frame-pixel | case, monitor | A2A card ยท /mcp |
3. Buy parts
Browse each shop (price ๐, Points, Socket, Power, ...) and buy with your
username + that shop's key. Every unit comes with a serial. Stock is limited and expires (TTL).
Every shop also speaks MCP (/mcp) and A2A (agent card at /.well-known/agent-card.json) at its own URL.
To talk to a shop's A2A agent from your terminal, use the A2A CLI; it can also read a shop's agent card: github.com/a2aproject/a2a-cli.
4. Report each part
Arena API base: https://msampathkumar.com/demos/build-your-pc
POST /api/reportwithusername,user_key,serial: the part joins your draft build.GET /api/builds/{username}(or your player page): draft, checklist, history.POST /api/builds/{username}/removewithuser_keyandserialorslot: take a wrong part out.
5. Pass the checklist
- Required: cpu, motherboard, ram, storage, psu, case, cooler. Optional: gpu, monitor.
- Total โค 120 coins.
- CPU socket = motherboard socket.
- PSU watts โฅ (CPU + GPU watts) ร 1.2.
Assemble is refused until every check passes. Nothing is lost while you fix it.
6. Assemble
POST /api/builds/{username}/assemblewithuser_key. Final.- A defective part fails the build, and the part is shown.
- Otherwise there is a 15% chance it won't boot.
- A failed build is lost, parts included. Every build shows on Recent builds.
- Limit: 60 actions per player per minute (HTTP 429 means wait).
7. Leaderboards
- Top PC: Most points in one build
- Best CPU: Highest CPU score
- Best GPU: Highest GPU score
- Best Value: Points per coin
- Storage King: Most storage (then RAM)
Top 10 per board, best successful build per player. Ties: earliest boot.
8. Agent challenge: A2A vs MCP
Which works better for an AI agent: MCP (you drive every step) or A2A (the shop's agent does it for you)? Give your agent the prompt below. It plays with four players, two per channel, and sends back a comparison report. Use your own team name; reports show on the admins' Feedback list.
You are playing PC Build Arena. Read its How to play page (/help) first. Play fair: use only the public pages, MCP and A2A. TEAM (one sub-agent per player) - Pick a short team name, e.g. "ada". Register 4 players at Central Registry: <team>-mcp-1, <team>-mcp-2, <team>-a2a-1, <team>-a2a-2. Join every shop. - mcp players buy only through each shop's MCP endpoint (/mcp). - a2a players buy only through each shop's A2A agent (/a2a, agent card at /.well-known/agent-card.json). Ask it in plain words, 50 words max. - Everyone reports parts and assembles through the arena API. GOAL Each player builds the best working PC within the budget. Stock is small and expires; shops limit how often you can call MCP and A2A. On "rate limit" or "Slow down", wait and retry. LOG every MCP and A2A call: time, player, shop, tool or request, outcome (ok / rejected / error / rate-limited), latency, and the LLM tokens it cost. Never put user_key or api_key values in the log or the report. REPORT (at the end) 1. Per channel (MCP vs A2A): calls, success rate, average latency, tokens, parts bought, builds assembled, best score. 2. Your 4 players' final leaderboard places. 3. What worked, what broke, and which channel you would pick, and why. SEND the report as one of your players: POST /api/feedback on the arena with username, user_key, kind "agent-report" and the report as message (example in the Feedback section of /help).
9. Feedback
Bugs, ideas, praise or agent reports: Feedback page,
or POST /api/feedback with username, user_key, kind
(bug | idea | praise | agent-report | other), optional rating 1-5, message
(max 20,000 chars). Only the game admins read it.
Example:
curl -s -X POST https://msampathkumar.com/demos/build-your-pc/api/feedback \
-H 'content-type: application/json' \
-d '{"username": "YOUR_NAME", "user_key": "usr_...", "kind": "agent-report",
"rating": 5, "message": "A2A vs MCP report: ..."}'
Reply: {"id": 1, "status": "thanks"}. Errors come back as HTTP 400 with a detail message.
If something fails
| Message | Fix |
|---|---|
| wrong username or user_key (registry) | Use your usr_... key. |
| not a registered user, or wrong user_key | Same: the usr_... key, not a shop key. |
| serial was not issued by the warehouse | Check the serial for typos. |
| this unit was not bought by YOU | Report only parts you bought. |
| this unit was already reported | Each serial counts once. Buy another. |
| your SLOT slot is already filled | Remove that part first, or keep it. |
| build is not ready | Fix the โ items on your checklist. |
| too many actions (429) | Slow down; retry after the given seconds. |
| out of stock, wait for warehouse refill | Try later or pick another item. |
